Don’t overlook our best friends

Dr. Brad Altman of Aprima, Consultants in Eye Health, in Mt. Juliet recently dropped off a heaping helping of dog and puppy food at the Mt. Juliet Animal Shelter. Altman is seen here, from left, with the shelter’s volunteer coordinator Karen Franklin, Mt. Juliet Animal Shelter director Dawn Ambrose and Abby, a pit bull mix. Altman reminisced that his first dog was a shelter puppy he adopted when he was 6 or 7 years old. “He had an injured eye that I had to treat with ointment for several days,” said Altman. “I suppose that dog’s eye was the first eye I treated.” The Mt. Juliet Animal Shelter currently has 15 dogs and eight cats available for adoption. The shelter’s Christmas gift wish list includes: clumping cat litter, paper towels, dog food and “more forever homes for the dogs.” Shelter phone number: (615) 773-5533.
